The Confederate Flag, some thoughts

Hi.

I don't have a lot to say on this topic really. I just wanted to clear some things up, since there seems to be some confusion.

This is a Confederate flag. A rebel flag, a Dixie flag, etc, etc, etc.

A lot of people in the United States like to fly this flag. Very few will admit to flying it for racist reasons. No, they fly it because it represents their Southern ancestry, or their Southern heritage, or to show that they come from the South and are therefore different than the people in northern and western America. And for blah blah blah yada yada yada punk ass bullshit reasons.

The simple truth is this flag represents the Slaver’s Uprising. And an awful lot of people will try to tell you that the Slaver’s Uprising was not primarily about slavery, but was instead about freedom, or economics, or something similar.

It was about the freedom to continue treating human being as chattel. It was about the freedom to use people as fucking animals. It was about the economic benefits of using people as slave labor.

If you fly or support this flag, then please, make no mistake; you are supporting and endorsing a system of dehumanizing racism. You are also engaging in a form of passive terrorism.

Period.

So think about that. Then decide if you're going to continue with that support. If so, please, own up to being a racist shit. Thanks.
